Ibogaine is the purified form of iboga from the roots of a flowering African shrub known as Tabernanthe iboga. Ibogaine was first discovered by the Bwiti tribal members of West Africa Over one thousand years ago. The Bwiti would ingest low doses of Ibogaine by chewing the root bark of the Iboga shrub. Ibogaine was primarily used by the Bwiti to stave off hunger fatigue while on long hunting trips. However, the Bwiti s most significant use for Ibogaine was as a spiritual guide in religious ceremonies. Europeans would not discover ibogaine until the early 1900s.

From 1945 – 1970, Ibogaine would be marketed for the first time in France under the trade name Lambarene. During this period, Ibogaine was marketed for its medicinal ability to promote a sense of well being, physically and psychologically.

Today Ibogaine hydrochloride is extracted and purified from the root bark of the Iboga shrub. Ibogaine HCL will commonly be used as a treatment for chemical dependency. Universities and Medical Centers around the world have come to the same conclusion about Ibogaine. Studies have conclusively shown a fantastic ability to prevent drug and alcohol cravings, while simultaneously alleviating withdrawal symptoms. If administered correctly, Ibogaine’s treatment significantly decreases the desire for cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, methadone, alcohol, and almost all other types of mind-altering drugs.
